Supermarket Sweep....again!

Hi!

I just popped into Asda, not with the intention of buying any clothes of course but with the George 1/2 price sale how could I resist!

After my op I really wanted something comfy to wear so when my mum spotted these leggings I thought perfect! They are so so comfy, fit really well and for £4 you can't go wrong really!

It was a bit chilly when I took these that's why my hands are shoved in my pockets!

The White Jacket

Tuesday, 29 October 2013 | No comments

Hi!

I was naughty a while ago, after saying that I wasn't going to buy anything from the New Look sale I caved and picked up this white jacket and a vest top.

I wasn't sure at first because me and white don't usually go well together, I can guarantee by the end of the day I will have either a food stain on me or a pen mark!

I don't think its available anymore as I picked it up in September but they do have this lovely little number available now.

Here is how I styled it for a casual Saturday outing!

Topsy Curvy

Friday, 25 October 2013 | No comments

Hi!

At the end of September I was lucky to win a prize from the lovely Debz over at The (Not So) Secret Diary of Wannabe Princess from her birthday giveaway she ran on her blog.

I won a lovely cartoon print midi dress from Topsy Curvy. I received it a few weeks ago but have only just got round to taking photos!

The dress itself is so lovely, I was a bit unsure at first as I don't really wear anything with prints on it but as soon as I put on any fears I had went out the window.

The dress is the perfect length so I can wear it with or without leggings and the material is lovely, thick and stretchy and doesn't cling too much.

Here is how I styled it for an evening out!

Dress - Topsy Curvy
Jacket - Asda
Leggings - Forever 21
Boots - Asda

Thanks again to Debz and Topsy Curvy x

Thank you and a teeny tiny rant!

Thursday, 24 October 2013 | 2 comments

Hi!

So first of all I would like to say thank you to everyone that has read my blog over the last few weeks and left comments.

September was a pretty rubbish month for me, I was admitted into hospital 3 times for a problem that has been ongoing for the last two years. Last week I finally had an operation, even though I have been in a lot of pain I'm finally relieved to have got somewhere. The past two years have been a constant battle with various doctors and consultants, I knew what the problem was but trying to get someone to agree with me was another story. I felt quite angry when after the op a consultant asked me if I knew that I had a lump that size..... ummm yes of course I did!!! grrrrr

So hopefully after my operation last week I'm on the road to recovery (fingers crossed) and in a few more weeks will be able to set foot in the shops again (sorry Mr C!)

Anyway whilst I have been at home I noticed that there is so much negativity towards fat people. Apparently, if you read some of the comments, we are some of the worst people around

I wish people would think about the effect that their nasty comments could/do have on people. I remember the night when I went out and some bloke shouted at me that I had fat legs. So what? The only problem that could have occurred from me having fat legs is if I had given him one swift kick in the knee caps! The main thing was that I thought I looked pretty good that night and that was enough to spur me on into having a good time.

This was not the first time its happened though, I was called names at school, bullied at college and have been shouted at in the street before.

I have sat here and thought yes I am fat, but this fat body of mine carried me through a HB count of 5.3 ( a normal count is 12-15)! I was almost a week or so away from heart failure, not from being fat but because I had hardly any oxygen in my body but somehow I made it through. I'm not ill because I'm fat, my health issues have occurred for other reasons. The fact that people want to spend time and energy berating fat people when there are far worse things happening in the world is beyond me.

So for all you bullies - if you think that calling me fat is going to break me you're wrong. I only have one shot at life and I'm going to live it no matter what size I am!

OMCZ

Wednesday, 23 October 2013 | 8 comments

Hi!

Welcome to another OMCZ challenge.

This week it's the turn of the Verena and here is what she wrote:

“Nightclub“ Imagine you're going clubbing with your friends, a girls night out whatever. My problem with nightclubs is, I always feel like I'm dressed wrong. I can do the whole programme and get really dolled up but in the end I always feel that everybody around me is dressed a lot cooler, hipper, stylish....
So I would loved to see how all the other lovely ladies interpret the look “nightclub“.

So I had to use an old photo for this challenge as I'm still recovering from an operation and the day that I took all my photos (pre op) I completely forgot to do one for this challenge!

I love this outfit especially the skirt from Pink Clove. As the nights get colder I would add tights and jacket over this but it would definitely be something I would wear to a club.

Much Love

I Feel Good

Tuesday, 15 October 2013 | 3 comments

Hi!

Time for the second I Feel Good challenge.

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

This picture was taken on a weekend away in Bournemouth which was for my birthday. We had a wonderful time and this was taken at pre dinner drinks in the hotel bar.

Wedding Bell's

Monday, 14 October 2013 | No comments

Hi!

On Sunday I ventured out to Aylesbury for a wedding fayre with my mum and sister.

I'm not a great lover of these types of events and this one was no exception as it was busy, crowded and not enough free samples!

We still managed to have a look around and get a few ideas for my sister's wedding and possibly my own (one day!).

My OOTD for the day.

Picks from across the pond!

Hi!

Even though it's great that we now have a few more online stores opening up for plus sizes I feel like it has taken a long time to get here.

I remember going on holiday to Boston 10 years ago and coming back with a suitcase full of clothes because there was nothing to wear over here. Most weekends when I went shopping I would end up coming back with a ton of accessories and no clothes. Hmm, maybe that's where my love of handbags started!

The first store that I went into was Macy's and I was surprised to see a Ralph Lauren plus range, cue multiple shopping bags in my hands!

One store that I became particularly fond of whilst shopping in the US was Lane Bryant. I remember buying a pair of trousers that lasted me a good few years before I had to throw them away, the quality was excellent and the fit was good as well. The same can be said for all the tops and jeans that I bought as well.

I recently had a look on their website and noticed that they ship to the UK. Yes they are expensive but I feel that if I purchase something it would last me a long time again.

Here are a few other items I have my eye on. Will I be buying a lottery ticket tonight, oh yes!

You can find all these items here on the Lane Bryant website.

Do you think the Plus Size range in the UK is better than it used to be or could it still improve?

Feeling Relaxed

Thursday, 10 October 2013 | No comments

Hi!

I have thick coarse afro hair, so until I have my hair relaxed I look like a shorter, female version of Sideshow Bob from The Simpsons. It is such a nightmare for me sometimes, it's never a case of wash 'n' go more like wash 'n' slow go!

I had been trying to grow my hair out back to it's natural state as years of relaxing, dyeing and straighteners had taken their toll and my hair was slowly falling out at the front. This is quite a common occurrence in relaxed hair and is also quite distressing (well for me anyway!).

I managed 6 months before I had to cave in and call upon my lovely Mother for my hair to be done. It had got to the point where I it would take me about 20 minutes to comb it and even then it didn't look good in the pictures for my blog.

If you don't know much about afro hair here is my quick little guide about mine:

1. I have super thick, coarse and dry hair.

2. My hair tends to grow up and out rather than down so I will probably never have long flowing locks!

3. I have to wear a 'do-rag' at night, yep, this (un-)attractive piece of cloth gets wrapped around my head every night. Most mornings I will find it underneath Mr C as I always forget to clip it down!

4. I had a really bad experience with relaxing my hair at the hairdressers and now I have a patch of hair at the back that doesn't grow properly and is about 1 inch long. I never have my hair done in a salon now.

5. I'm always considering getting a weave but worried it will look too fake (plus Mr C doesn't approve of them)?

Here are a few before, during and after pictures of me getting my hair done. The kit I use is from Soft and Beautiful and I always use the regular. We have to make frequent trips to London to purchase this as it is very difficult to find where I live.

Before - Check out those roots!

OMCZ

Wednesday, 9 October 2013 | 7 comments

Hi!

This weeks OMCZ is a free week!

So here is the outfit that I have chosen for this week's theme:

I bought this top earlier this year from Ebay, a total impulse buy! I don't own anything orange and not with a horse print either.

I actually wore this outfit on Sunday when we went shopping. My dad said I looked nice so for me that means this top is a keeper!

Another Supermarket Sweep

Tuesday, 8 October 2013 | 4 comments

Hi!

A few weeks ago I went on a mission to find some new black trousers after I had to throw my favourite pair away.

I picked up this pair in Asda after trying all the other black trousers and not having much luck. They are not ideal work trousers but until I can find a decent pair they will have to do.

They are really comfortable and stretchy, it's quite a thick material but not so much that you end up all sweaty betty. My only bug bear with the trousers is the zip toggle, if I don't wear shoes with a chunky heal it hits the ground with every step I take, so annoying after 5 minutes.

I also got this skirt. I was unsure about it at first. The pattern is not something I would normally go for as I always thought it would highlight my chunky thighs. Now I love it, the fit is great and it hugs my hips and thighs without showing the lumps and bumps!

Oh check out those '' winter is coming'' dry legs, I need extra moisturiser!

Peacocks

Monday, 7 October 2013 | 2 comments

Hi!

A few weeks ago we went to Leighton Buzzard. I wanted to go there as I was still on the hunt for some black work trousers. I saw on the Yours Clothing website that one of their stores was located there so Mr C kindly took me for a visit/shopping trip!

Whilst we were there I thought I would have a quick peek in Peacocks. It's a store that I haven't been into for a quite a few years, I felt like it had become a little too trendy and young for me.

I got quite a surprise when I went in there, rows of brightly coloured skirts, denim shirts and gorgeous looking jumpers greeted me and I was enticed.

I picked up two items, firstly a denim shirt. It's something I have been wanting for months, ok maybe they are out of fashion now but I don't care I still love it!

You can find it here on the website.

I also got this long jumper, I think it will look nice with a jacket over the top and then when it gets colder a long sleeved top underneath and some knee high boots.

You can find the top here.

All I can say is that I will definitely be going back as I have my eye on so many other lovely items!

Much Love
