Marisota SS14 Style

Thursday, 30 January 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

I was recently invited to take part in the Marisota SS14 style challenge. The idea was to try one of the SS14 key items and show you how I would style it.

There were three different items that might be sent, PU Trim Pencil Skirt, Mark Heyes Boucle Biker Jacket and the Truly WOW Panelled Blouse. As I didn't know which one I would be receiving it made for a nice surprise!

On Thursday my parcel arrived and I received the Mark Heyes Boucle Biker Jacket.

First of all let me tell you about how soft this jacket is! Seriously, I have never felt a jacket with such a luxurious feel and that is thanks to the boucle fabric.

I wore the jacket on Sunday for a afternoon trip out to the countryside, there is lots of greenery behind these walls but it was so muddy and wouldn't have made a nice background.

I was a bit nervous about wearing it outside. In the winter you would normally find me in a black, blue or grey coat! I must say it made a nice change to wear a lighter colour and I really felt it worked well with the light jeans, pretty scarf and a cute little hat.

I wore the jacket again for an evening out during the week. I braved the cold and kept the top slightly unzipped, just enough to show off one of my favourite necklaces. Keeping a scarf under the collar meant that if I got too cold I just had to zip it up and wrap my scarf around.

I got a size 22 and it fits really well, especially over the hips. The sleeves are the perfect length, I personally find there is nothing more annoying than sleeves that are too long!

This is a lovely jacket that would be a great addition to any wardrobe, no matter what your style is.

Thank you Marisota!

Much Love

OMCZ #25

Hi!

This weeks OMCZ challenge was choosen by the lovely Nikki of Natty Nikki.

My idea was to go with accessories unless that has already been done.
I thought we can use scarves, bags or statement jewellery to show how you can change the look of an outfit and the bolder the better.

I was really excited when I saw this, I love accessories especially a nice statement necklace or a scarf!

I Feel Good

Friday, 24 January 2014 | 2 comments

Hi

Time for the next I Feel Good challenge. I am late as it should have been posted on the 15th but I forgot! Sorry!

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

This picture is from Plus London after I had my make up done by the lovely Lilly Von Pink. It was my first time ever wearing red lipstick and now I own two!

Much Love

Taking Shape Review

Monday, 20 January 2014 | 5 comments

Hi!

A few weeks I wrote about a new brand in the UK called Taking Shape. If you have never heard of Taking Shape then have a look at their website here.

I was also recently given the chance to review an item of clothing from their collection.

I choose this gorgeous Notting Hill Coat because it looked like it would be perfect for this cold miserable weather at the moment.

I went for a size 20 and its fits perfectly. I'm always worried about coats with toggles, I have found in the past that they can be rather unflattering. Fortunately this one was far from that, it sat comfortably just below my hips and there was enough room to wear a nice chunky jumper underneath.

I wore this to work last week and what should happen as soon as I walk out the door.....pssssssssssss (that is the sound of rain ok, just work with me here!). No problem though, I just pulled up the hood and made it into the car without a spot a rain to frizzing up my hair!

My favourite thing about the coat it the detail on the shoulder, I feel it adds a modern touch to a classic design.

Keep a look out for the new SS14 collection coming to the website soon!

Much Love

OMCZ #24

Hi!

It was my turn to choose this week's OMCZ theme and I went for 'keeping it casual'. As soon as I get home on an evening one of the first things I love to do is change out of my work clothes and into something more comfy and the includes swapping my bra for a more comfy crop top!

Here is what I wrote:

"I always love seeing everyone looking lovely in their outfits but what do you wear when you are lounging around at home? Are you an all day pj girl or do you still keep it glam?

This is my comfy evening outfit, if I get home really late it's straight into my pjs!

Just relaxing in my comfy clothes watching tv!

Jumper - Gap

Old white t-shirt underneath jumper

Leggings - Forever 21

Socks - Totes Toasties

The Black Dress

Wednesday, 8 January 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

I went to Tesco shopping and guess what! I bought some clothes. Maybe one day I will go into a supermarket and just buy food...maybe!

There were quite a few items on sale so I couldn't resist having a peek through.

I picked up this gorgeous dress for £7. It's skater style which is something that I normally stay away from because of the 'bubble butt'. This one does come up a bit at the back but only about 1/2 inch which isn't too bad compared to other skater dresses I have tried.

There is leather look detail on the shoulders which I love. The material just skims over all my lumps and bumps so I felt really comfortable in it when I wore it to work. I paired it with a cardigan, black leggings and short boots.

I also picked up a lovely chiffon top that was on sale but I will show that in another post!

Much Love

Taking Shape

Hi

I'm always really happy when I see new plus size brands being launched. Gone are the days when I could never find anything to wear, clothes were either too frumpy or just didn't fit properly but in the past year I think that there have been some real changes.

Another brand that recently hit our high street and online are Taking Shape, with over 28 years’ experience and over 130 stores across Australia and New Zealand, Taking Shape expands into the UK with a great understanding of what fuller figured women are looking for. Taking Shape pride themselves on offering clothing that is fashionable, has personality and flatters; a fun, relaxed and friendly shopping experience; and real advice on how to dress for your size.

I had a look at the website and here are my top five picks:

Happy New Year!

Friday, 3 January 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

Happy New Year to you all! I hope that you had a good NYE whatever you did.

I just want to also say a big thank you to everyone that read my blog in 2013 and for all the lovely comments that have been left. I know that I don't always reply to each one but I am grateful for everyone that takes a moment to write something.

Reading other blogs has given me a new found confidence to wear stuff that never would have dared to do so a few years ago and has also given me great opportunities and the chance to meet/tweet/email some wonderful ladies

Mr C and I ventured to our local pub for the night. It's only a 10 minute walk away so it meant that we could both enjoy a few drinks! We had a great time and got to know a lot of our neighbours!

Here is what I wore on the night:

Top - New Look
Jacket - Pinkclove
Necklace - Boutique in Menorca
Jeans - Yours
Puffy Eyes - Courtesy of one very fun and late night out!

Much Love

OMCZ #23

Wednesday, 1 January 2014 | 14 comments

Hello!

Happy New Year! The first day of 2014 starts off with a OMCZ challenge post.

This week was the turn of Betty from BigFatBetty, this is what she choose as her theme:

Challenge: 'Pretty Pencils'

Pretty Pencils': I absolutely love pencil skirts but I've never had the confidence to wear them, what with the VBO and all that jazz. However, I've just ordered a beauty and I could really do with that push in order to wear it...let me see all you lovely ladies rocking your pencil skirts, get those pins out and share your style tips (as I also have no idea what to wear with the damn thing)!

Betty x

I don't actually own a proper pencil skirt so at first I was a bit unsure of what to wear. I then remembered my trusty old black jersey pencil skirt. I bought this about 6 maybe even more, years ago from the plus size range, Grace at Sainsbury's.

Top - Pinkclove
Skirt - Sainsburys

The skirt sat in my wardrobe for at least a year before I had the confidence to wear it. I love that the material is thick, that its stretchy and the right length. I think its safe to say that this is definitely a staple item in my wardrobe!
