Curvissa have so many nice pieces at the moment. As soon as easter is here the monochrome shift will be hanging happily in my wardrobe, until then here is a peek at some of my other favourites!

OMCZ # 29

Wednesday, 26 March 2014 | 4 comments

Hi

This weeks theme of Pastels was chosen by the lovely Hollie over at PrettyBigButterflies. She wrote:

Pastels are here for Spring & Summer but I'd love some inspiration from you lovely ladies. I want to see you flourish in fondant colours. Pinks, Mints, Sky Blues... the list goes on. I don't want to hide away this Summer so this will be good practise!

This was a tricky one for me as I don't own any items of  clothing that are pastel colours! I obviously need to rectify this situation once my shopping ban has finished at Easter!

I do have accessories that tie in with the theme so here is my outfit!

Have a look at the other ladies getting their 'pastel' on!

Body Confidence. What it means to me...

Monday, 24 March 2014 | 4 comments

Hi!

At the Curvissa Plusport we had to fill in a quick questionnaire about Body Confidence.

Body confidence has been a issue for me for a long time. I spent most of my teenage years painfully shy, something which led me to eat and eat and gain weight. I always used to wish that I was more confident like my friends, to be able to have fun without worrying what people thought of me. I used to eat my feelings, when I was sad, I ate.

As the years went by it didn't get any better, I was bullied throughout my years at college by a group of girls in my class. Not by words but just by being left out, that hurt me more than if they had called all sorts of names.

2013 was finally a year that I began to feel more comfortable in my own skin. Yes, I am bigger than most girls, but I am me. I love fashion and starting my blog has given the confidence to wear things that I would normally have shied away from.

My role model first and foremost is my mum. She has always had a wonderful sense of style and inspired me to take pride in how I looked, not for anyone else but for me. There was a point when I used live in joggers and black trousers, I was far too scared to wear a skirt!

Fashion bloggers, especially plus size bloggers, are all role models for me. There are probably so many people that will say that I shouldn't say that someone who is fat is a role model. These ladies inspire me to try clothes that I wouldn't have ever dreamed about trying, they talk about being positive and living life. In no way shape or form are they promoting obesity, they are women with style, who dress well and just happen to be fat, plus size, or just a human being like everyone else.

Do you have any Body Confidence tips?

Much Love

Curvissa Curve Project Event

Thursday, 20 March 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

A few weeks ago I was kindly invited by Curvissa to their Plusport Event which was to be held in London. I had seen a few tweets about it but it wasn't until I received another email with a model checklist that I began to get excited!

On Saturday morning I started my journey to London at 7.20am! I was secretly hoping that the make up artist would have a barrel full of concealer to hide the dark circles under my eyes.

After arriving at Parsons Green Tube station I made my way down to the studios. We were greeted by Sarah from Curvissa with a much needed glass of orange juice and a beautiful flower garland.

Next up was a introduction to Curve Project London and the Curvissa team. Saffi, the owner and founder of CPL, made us feel comfortable straight away and gave us a brief overview of what to expect from the day. It was a chance to preview Curvissa's new spring lines and to take part in the workshop run by Curve Project London.

We were spilt into two groups, one to do runway training and the other to start choosing clothes and then into hair and make up.

Now, having been put in to the latter group I made a beeline for the rails of clothes and was as close to clothing heaven as I could be!

My outfit for my fab day out in London.

The entire day was an amazing experience. I met some really lovely ladies, Leah, Hollie, Becca, Sally, Charley, Becky, Gemma and Anne-Lise. It was great to finally meet so many people that I had been chatting to on twitter for some time. The makeover and runway training, which was given by the fabulous Les, soon quashed any feeling of nerves that I had. I think I could do with Les permanently in my handbag to keep me pepped up with his positivity!

I stood in front of the camera later on in the day and felt fabulous. I can't wait to see the pictures in a few weeks time so keep an eye out for a post on those.

So finally thank you so much to Curvissa and Curve Project London for a wonderful day and making me wake up on a Monday morning with a smile on my face!

Don't forget to check out the new Curvissa S/S collection and if you fancy a day of being fabulous and positivity head on over to Curve Project London.

Much Love

Shop my wardrobe for Lent - Floral Fest

Tuesday, 18 March 2014 | 2 comments

 Hi!

This was the first outing for this dress that I purchased at Christmas from Pinkclove.

I teamed it with an old favourite cardigan of mine from Forever 21. It got me a few stares at work but that's because people were probably shocked that a fat person was wearing flowers and colours! Oh well, sorry for looking so cute.

I Feel Good

Saturday, 15 March 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Time for the next I Feel Good challenge.

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

Trying on my new hat from H&M, still unsure whether I should keep it or not!?

Much Love

So I have made it 10 days without buying any clothes! I managed to fit in a little asos order on shrove Tuesday which I will be posting about soon!

During the week I wore this outfit, you may have seen this skirt being worn by a few bloggers last year. It was my very first body con piece and for months it sat in the back of my wardrobe as I was too scared to wear it. Now I love wearing it!

OMCZ #28

Hi!

This weeks OMCZ challenge was chosen by Mary.

Here is what she wrote:

Theme: Bring your high heels

I know that heels make our feet hurt and sometimes is quite difficult to walk however, is there anything more stylish than a woman in high heels?
You may have a simple dress and no accessories but if you put your heels on you will be the most elegant girl in the room so ladies I what to see your heels!!
Hope this challenge will suit everyone!
Kisses,
Mary

This was definitely out of my comfort zone, I rarely wear heels anymore apart from the odd night out!

These black ones from Sainsburys are my favourite heels, they are not particularly high but they are comfortable enough to wear out (for a few hours!). They also make an appearance in quite a few of my blog photos!

The boots below have a heel that is more 'me'! I always find wedges comfy to walk in and these ones don't make my feet hurt!

Shoes are...good. When they don't make your feel hurt!

Have a look at everyone else's heels!

Shop my wardrobe for Lent

Monday, 10 March 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

When the lovely Debz put a tweet up with the hashtag 'Shopmywardrobeforlent' I immediately said yes! With a bulging wardrobe and set of drawers I knew that I had made the right decision.

I am not quite sure when I became such a shopaholic. When I was 18  I hated shopping, the plain frumpy clothes that were available made trying to be stylish a nightmare. I didn't even own a pair of jeans and lived in black trousers 7 days a week.

Fast forward 15 years and how times have changed. The fact that I literally see something I want to buy every week definitely tells me how much plus size fashion has changed.

I really hope that I can make it 40 days without shopping but only for clothes, I will allow myself to purchase underwear, toiletries and jewellery because clearly they are all necessities...right?!

Much Love

TK Maxx Goodies

Sunday, 9 March 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Since moving house it seems like TK Maxx/HomeSense have become second homes for me. I might just say to Mr C oh perhaps we could stop by TK Maxx on the way home for quick look. These quick looks soon turn into an hour and a lot of pounds spent!

The last time we went in for some cake tins this is what I came out with minus cake tins of course, well I can't wear them can I !

This lovely make up holder. I'm still working on filling it up.

These Essie nail polishes were £12.99 for 3.

A few more lip-glosses for my collection!

This book, just because I grew up in the 90's

I saw a few beauty bloggers writing/talking about this a few months ago, I'm going to try it cleaning my brushes.

Another notebook, just to add to my collection!

TK Maxx also have lots of lovely home stuff, once we have finished decorating I will be in there looking at bits for the house.

Do you shop in TK Maxx or HomeSense?

Much Love

Magnificent 7th

Friday, 7 March 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

'We will be posting on the 7th of each month, and the aim of the challenge is to create an outfit to fit the theme, using clothes from our wardrobes, and yes that does mean digging deep into the depths and finding those long lost clothes! Hopefully one of us won’t end up in Narnia, but you never know with a bloggers wardrobe!'

This is my very first post for this challenge and what a theme to start on! I knew I wouldn't find this too difficult seeing as Mr C  is a lover of sports, maybe more spectating that participating though!

Sports Relief

Red Jacket - Yours (old)
England Shirt - Sports Direct - Mens
Jeans - New Look

Thank you to Mr C for letting me wear his shirt and taking the pics!
