Read My Lips

Wednesday, 30 April 2014 | 2 comments

Until last year I had never worn lipstick...ever. My face has always been the one part of my body that I am not overly confident about so I didn't wear lipstick so as not to draw attention to my face.

Early last year I decided to try one, what I have got to lose I thought? I either look good or awful! The first one I bought was a cheap one from a brand called Miss Sporty (I think!) at Superdrug. Within half an hour it was off and I was left with sore, dry, chapped lips for a week. Lesson learned - don't buy cheap lippie!

I then purchased a beautiful nude colour from MAC along with this one, riveting rose, which has become a firm favourite of mine!

This one is my most recent purchase. After wearing a red lip for the first time at Plus London I am definitely now a convert!

Kiss of life - Rimmel

Do you have any recommendations for lipstick I could try?

It has been a long time since I last went to Primark, in fact I think it was when we went to Cardiff last November!

Yesterday Mr C wanted to have a look around GAME, this was not my idea of fun so whilst he was in there I popped into Primark for a ''quick'' look around.

The black and white stripe and pink tops were both £3. I tried on the B/W top and I am in love! They are both cropped but fit so well. The T-Shirt is a PJ top, I have tons of bottoms but not many tops for some reason.

I couldn't resist picking up a couple of pairs of the flats!

I am really into belts at them moment. My favourite is the bow one.
I also picked up a pretty skirt and it had pockets! It's a shame that I tried it on it appears to be see through and quite short!
There are some nice pieces in Primark at the moment but I do think that it is getting more expensive or am I just a cheapskate!
Have you got anything good from Primark recently?

Only kidding, I didn't want to get my trainers dirty so we walked around it instead!

Did you do anything fun this weekend?

OMCZ # 30

Wednesday, 23 April 2014 | 2 comments

The next OMCZ challenge was chosen by Erin and the theme is one item - three ways.
"Blogging about fashion while living on a budget can be difficult. There is a lot of pressure to keep up with trends and be the first to display a relevant piece. Because it does not suit my finances or lifestyle to constantly purchase new items, I love creating multiple looks around one piece to really stretch the life of my wardrobe. I challenge all of you to create a 'One Item + Three Ways' look to either showcase an item through multiple seasons, or for multiple occasions."

So, I got slightly excited when I saw this theme as I've done a post similar to this challenge before!

I was actually meant to use the black skirt as my one piece but I'm also using the gold vest top as well so I might cheat and call my skirt and top 'one piece'!
The vest top is a really old one from New Look, it's been in the back of my drawers unworn for about 3/4 years now, this top has seen quite a few nights out so I can never bring myself to throw it away! The skirt was a purchase from Asda last year, as per usual we went food shopping and I came home with an extra bag full of clothes, I swear trolleys are like a magnet for clothes in supermarkets! Well that's my excuse anyway!

Enough rambling here are my 3 outfits from my ummm one piece!

Was I counting perfumes or just looking like I'm falling asleep!

Cardigan - Gap
Vest - New Look
Skirt - Asda
Necklace - Primark
Night Out

Vest and skirt - As before
Belt - Forever 21
Bracelet - Thrifted
Clutch - £1 Primark Bargain!
Jacket - Forever 21
Trying to put my hat on without messing up the hair!
Shirt - Peacocks
Hat - H&M
Necklace - Boutique
Belt - Old and probably belongs to my sister
Converse - Christmas gift from Mr C

Shop My Stash

Monday, 21 April 2014 | 2 comments

Welcome to the Shop Your Stash Challenge. This is all about finding a gem in what you already own and creating a blog post on it. This is to let go a little of the stress that comes with being a blogger - even if it is just once a month. Rummage through your beauty products and climb through those clothes draws. You might surprise yourself!
When Hollie from Pretty Big Butterflies put up a tweet saying that she had come up with a new challenge I knew that I would definitely be interested! Shop your stash, the perfect way to kind of carry on my shop my wardrobe for Lent challenge, which ended yesterday!
My aim is start using more of my 'stash' of make up. I have bought quite a few bits over the last couple of months but every morning I tend to use the same concealer and powder and that's it. So starting this Friday, which is our dress down (but no jeans?!) day at work I'm going to try and create different look using these barely used eye shadow palettes which are just gathering a major amount of dust. I hope to do this every Friday, and seeing as I get up at 6.30am this will be a challenge in itself, I hope to transform two tired eyes into sexy smouldering sexy eyes but may well end up with two uneven half done eyes! oh well lets see what happens!

A few weeks ago I got a lovely email from someone saying how lovely my hair was in my photos, to be honest I was a bit shocked, my hair drives me nuts, absolutely flipping nuts!

I have to relax it every 5-6 months otherwise it goes wild, honestly, when I wake up my hair is so big I'm surprised it doesn't knock Mr C out of the bed!

Last year I discovered this L'Oreal Shampoo and conditioner, recently I have seen a few beauty bloggers talking about. I LOVE IT, yes I do. I'm really picky when it comes to using hair shampoos, I need something super moisturizing but trying to find ones for afro hair in my local boots or superdrug is just not going to happen.

This one is sulphate free which I believe makes a difference, my hair is always soft after using it and doesn't get frizzy. The bottles last me for ages as I only wash my hair once maybe twice a week.

I can't dry my hair naturally, it takes half a day to dry so I do it quickly usually in 15-20 minutes with my Wahl Powerpick. I don't like to have too much heat on my hair so drying it more than once or twice a week ruins it. I also avoid hair straighteners and use Velcro rollers if I want to give my hair volume.

Last of all I use this hair moisturiser by Palmers after I have dried my hair and then every other day. It keeps my hair soft and allows me to keep it fairly under control!

Blurghhh! But it makes my hair feel so soft!

Do you have a favourite hair product at the moment?

ASOS Curve - Shrove Tuesday Picks

Friday, 18 April 2014 | 1 comment

Shrove Tuesday, a day of pancakes, sugar, lemons and the last day I went shopping online. It has been just over 3 weeks and I have not bought one item of clothing, I swear I can almost see my bank account smiling with relief!

I purchased two items from the 48hr flash sale that ASOS Curve had on the Shrove Tuesday. The first item was this jersey skirt. I had been looking for a grey skirt for ages to team with yellow mostly and then probably a vast array of colours in the future.

The skirt is a soft jersey material and it is so comfortable. The skirt fits nicely on the waist thanks to a good thick waistband. I would imagine this skirt it meant to mid calf length but on little old me it almost reaches my ankles but that's ok

Eekkk gotta get some cream on dem feet!

Mr C looking all handsome!

The windmill on the hill

A tasty treat after taking photos!

Look out for another post on the second item I got.

Do you shop online at ASOS?

I feel good

Time for the next I Feel Good challenge.

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

A picture from the Curvissa event that I didn't post on the blog!

Forever 21 Payday Picks

Sunday, 13 April 2014 | 1 comment

I have purchased many items from F21 over the past 2-3 years. I find that their dresses always fit me perfectly, I don't get too much of a dip from the front to the back caused by my big bumper (a word for the bum in Caribbean slang!)
Anyway, once Lent is over I will be purchasing a few items ready for the sun, yep I believe that we might just have a summer (crosses fingers, toes, arms, everything!)

Daisy Print Skirt
Pineapple Print Swimsuit
Laser Cut Crop Top
Chevron Dress

Shop my wardrobe - Pink Clove

Friday, 11 April 2014 | 2 comments

So I must admit, I'm actually enjoying doing this shopping ban. I have found so many items in my wardrobe that I haven't worn for ages or that I have never actually worn!

I got this dress just after Christmas in the Pink Clove sale. I love it, its so comfortable. I often find myself wearing it at the weekend just around the house instead of jeans. Pop a cardigan over the top and its still perfect for this so called spring weather which roughly translates as...freezing!

The dress is still available on the Pink Clove website in sizes 18 and 20.

New Look Wish List

Wednesday, 9 April 2014 | No comments

I have been looking at the New Look Website recently and there is so much nice stuff! Last year I was beginning to find that it was a bit hit and miss shopping there as most of the stores had either cut down or stopped stocking the inspire range.

This didn't deter me though as I have shopped there for a long time and knew that there would be something there for me soon!

Here are a few pieces that I have seen on line that I might just have to purchase once pay day arrives!

OMCZ - The Free Week

Tuesday, 8 April 2014 | 2 comments

This week OMCZ is slightly different, we can post if we want to. The next proper challenge will be back on the 23rd April.
So I wasn't too sure at first as to whether to post this picture. I have always had a love/hate relationship with the top of arms, even in the hottest weather I would have them covered with a shrug or a light cardigan.
There were many parts of the day which were outside my comfort zone, getting undressed in front of other people, walking the catwalk and then having my picture taken with lots of people around!

All the gorgeous ladies!
