New Dresses and a day out!

Tuesday, 27 May 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

Last weekend Mr C and I took a little trip Leamington Spa to visit the Taking Shape store. I was really pleased when I found out there was a store there, Leamington is one of my favourite places to visit, quite a few high street stores mixed with lots of lovely small independent shops.

After a quick bit of shopping to warm me up for the main event and a sneaky choc muffin it was time for my style session at the store.

We were greeted by the store manager Tracy who made me feel at ease straight away. Within a few minutes she had offered Mr C a seat for his weary shopped out feet and a glass of bubbly for both of us!

Next we went around the store and picked out some items. I must say that if I had been on my own I wouldn't of picked 2/3 of the items that were in the pile but I'm always happy to try different clothing, you never know what could happen!

On to trying on! It was so nice to be able to try stuff in spacious changing rooms, as I do the majority of shopping online our spare room has been become my changing room.

Here is what I tried on:

Dalmation Dress

I had seen this on line and was unsure about it, I never usually wear clashing prints. As soon as I tried it on and looked in the mirror I knew that this would be coming home with me. It skims across my boobs, clings to the waist in a good way and hits my knees, perfect. The material feel soft and light, I can tell it will be great for the summer but will also make that transition into A/W with leggings and a cardigan.

Hibiscus Maxi Dress*

I always stay away from maxi dresses and skirts. On my 5ft 3in frame I usualy end up dusting the floor whenever I wear one.

This beauty however was the complete opposite, brushing against the top my feet perfect. No more dusting the floor for me and yes, this one came home with me as well!

Paradise Dress

This next dress I tried on with a short sleeve top underneath. A really pretty dress but it would be only something I wore on holiday.

The top underneath the dress  is a great idea. They are lightweight and thin so you can wear them under sleeveless tops. I purchased one of the tops but in black as I tons of sleeveless tops that I want to wear without feeling self conscious about my arms

Collide Dress

This dress was so nice and felt really cool. I never really wear patterns so it was nice to try something out of my comfort zone.

I paired the dress with some leggings underneath. These felt really cooling on my hot legs and they were so comfortable

Borocay Dress

This was another one of my favourites. I had to size down on this one and when I did it fitted perfectly. A lovely cotton material this would work perfectly for summer and then work for A/W with a few layers

Aruba Dress
Skyler Wrap

Another lovely dress! I really wanted to stay away from trousers and tops as I have enough of those already.

Oriental Dream Dress

Of course I had to save the best till last! This got a big thumbs up from everyone so it had to be a keeper!

That little heart eyes emoji, that's me when I look at this dress!

I had a fantastic afternoon at the store, it was refreshing to go to a shop and have fun with a store manger that actually cared.  When I was there Tracy was also helping another woman find dresses for a holiday. She had been everywhere with no luck, came to the store and went away with two dresses!

I also got this jewellery hanger*. There were lots of lovely necklaces I had my eye on, I feel another trip coming on soon!

Thank you to Taking Shape for lovely day.

Much Love

Shop My Stash #2

Tuesday, 20 May 2014 | 4 comments

Hi!

Welcome to the second post in the Shop my Stash challenge!

Over the past few weeks especially during Shop My Wardrobe for Lent I have been trying to sort out of my wardrobe. Since moving in 7 months ago I haven't had a chance to sort out my clothes, shoes, accessories until now!

Mr C and I went to Costco a few months ago to stock up my hot chocolate for our Tassimo, my latest addiction! Whilst we were there I saw these space saving hangers, I had already tried some from
Primark but within months all but one had snapped in half.

The before picture

The old hangers

Here is how it looks after I used the hangers.
Ta da!

I'm trying to group items together and even colour coordinate, its still a work in progress!

I hope that I can keep my jeans nice and tidy!

The second wardrobe is still a work in progress!

The best thing about sorting out my wardrobe is finding lots of items that I haven't worn for a long time or not worn yet. Even after finding stuff for the shop my wardrobe for Lent challenge I am still finding clothes!

Much Love

Garden Time

Saturday, 17 May 2014 | No comments

Hi!

When I first start blogging I wanted to incorporate my love of fashion and gardening. The fashion soon took over from the gardening but that was mainly due to me being too ill to do anything!

Over the Easter bank holiday I said to Mr C that we should perhaps try and cut the grass and tidy up the garden. 5 hours later the grass cutting had turned into weeding, digging and planting, hee hee! I did not take part in the digging, that was Mr Cs job which he thoroughly enjoyed!

We were so engrossed that I didn't get a chance to take a before picture but here is picture of when we got about halfway.

We spent about £50 to get the garden looking fairly decent. A lot of items such as the stone edging was just laying around the garden from the previous owners and the Buddha was hidden at the top of the driveway behind the gates.

The Snobby Dragon

The Hostas I picked up a few weeks ago from Car Boot sale. I tend to get quite a lot of plants and flowers from car boots or small nurserys. If I'm looking for a short burst of colour over the summer I always go the 'homebase graveyard', the bit right at the back of the gardening section where they have all the dying plants. You can get  flowers super cheap here and with a lot of love and patience you can save them!

I also got this chair, it was from a vintage shop/ salvage yard. I love the fact that it is well worn and I like to think of people have sat in this chair admiring their own gardens over prior to it ending up in the yard.

I will be doing a few more posts on the garden over the next few months as the other side is still being worked on. Hopefully by the time the sun decides make an appearance for more than a week we will have a lovely seating area!

Much Love

I Feel Good

Thursday, 15 May 2014 | No comments

Hi!

Time for the next I Feel Good challenge.

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

Getting into the music on a night out!

Korres Review

Monday, 12 May 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Our local Lloyds Pharmacy has had a revamp and boy it was a good one! Previously it was quite dark and drab and I only went in there to buy paracetamol and cough syrup!

Now it so lovely, bright and airy I sometimes just want to pop in and wonder around for fun! The are brands such as Korres, Ren and La Roche Posey.

The next time I went in I dragged Mr C along with me. In the corner I spotted a Korres stand with different boxes on. On closer inspection there were various boxes with travel size products to try. It is a brand that I had read about quite a bit but never got round to buying. The boxes were all reduced to £12 so I thought, why not give them a try, even Mr C got in the act and we purchased a men's one for him.

Inside the box:

Wild Rose Brightening Mask
Basil Lemon Shower Gel
Guava Body Butter
White Tea Fluid Gel Cleanser
Wild Rose 24 hours Brightening Cream

One Sunday I decided to spend the evening and try out the products. I had a quick shower first, the basil lemon shower gel smells divine, I could do with using this in the mornings as it has that zesty smell that would definitely wake you up! I followed this up with the guava cream, this doesn't really smell fruity but still really nice. A little goes a long way with this stuff but it left my skin feeling like velvet, this is top of my beauty buys for when payday comes around.

I then washed my face with the White Tea Cleanser and popped on the mask. The combination of both left my skin feeling refreshed and thoroughly cleansed. I put on the face cream just before bed and when I woke up the next morning I was still impressed, my skin still felt smooth and soft.

My favourite items from the box were the brightening mask and the guava body butter. At around £15 for the body butter and £9 for the mask these are probably products that I would purchase and use every few weeks as a nice treat!

Have you ever tried any Korres products?

OMCZ #31

Wednesday, 7 May 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

This weeks OMCZ challenge was chosen by the birthday girl Stephanie at Seeing Spots! She wrote:

" As a fat woman i'm expected to stand up, breathe in and generally blend into the background. It's my birthday today and I fancy a sit down and I'd like to ask all my fellow plus size bloggers to sit down. Wear what every you like but post a photo of yourself sat down. This takes me out of my comfort zone to the extreme.

Theme: Sitting Down

Sat on the train going to London for the day. We walked about 7 miles that day, I'm glad I didn't take a picture afterwards, it was not pretty!

Chilling when I got home, 10 minutes later that bra was off, oh yeah!

Check out the other lovely ladies having a sit down!

The Magnifcient 7th

Hi!

'We will be posting on the 7th of each month, and the aim of the challenge is to create an outfit to fit the theme, using clothes from our wardrobes, and yes that does mean digging deep into the depths and finding those long lost clothes! Hopefully one of us won’t end up in Narnia, but you never know with a bloggers wardrobe!'

An outfit based around your favourite accessories

I have been wearing this belt a lot recently. I got it from Forever 21 sometime last year but hardly wore it. Since moving and having a sort out of my belts, scarves etc it has become a firm favourite once again, so much that I'm surprised I don't wear it with my pyjamas!
