Travel Essentials

Hi!

Mr C and I are hoping to have quite a few weekend breaks this year, seeing as most of last year was spent packing to go into hospital. I'm looking forward to visiting some new places that don't include a reception run by nurses.

I always try and take travel size beauty products whenever I go away, this means more room for any new purchases!

These are products that always end up in my washbag. I try and look for £1 deals or 3 for 2 as the mini sizes can sometimes be more expensive than buying a full size?!

The REN day cream and the POREfessional were freebies from a magazine, I love it when you get good ones, I usually save them for when I'm going away.

The Soap and Glory body lotions are my favourite at the moment. The full sized bottles are really quite big so travel sized bottles are a must.

Do you have any travel essentials?

Much Love

Hi!

Just a quick post today.

Following on from my OMCZ post yesterday I decided to put on a pair of jeans to wear to dinner. It was very quick you only have 5 minutes to get ready kind of outfit!

Hi!

Theme: Free Week

It does feel very strange to be sat here to be writing this. I never thought I would actually say that wearing jeans feels quite out of my comfort zone!

Before I started blogging jeans were a staple part of my wardrobe, Saturday shopping, jeans and a top, Sunday day out, jeans and a top, night out, well you can guess.

Years ago when I lost loads of weight I always wore skirts and dresses, then I put back on the weight and suddenly it was back to wearing jeans and trousers,  since I started blogging I have regained enough confidence to start wearing dresses and skirts again.

On the odd occasion when I do wear jeans now I usually pick one of these three pairs, all from Yours Clothing. Out of all the ones that I have tried these fit the best, hugging my bum and thighs but with enough stretch so I can still bend over and pick up all those shopping bags!

Hi!

I'm a big fan of wearing flats, heels and me do not get on. Primark has always been my go to shop for flats, a good selection in lots of styles, colours and prices you can't go wrong!

Recently I have been finding that their shoes haven't been lasting as long and I'm finding myself having to throw away shoes more often due to them wearing down so, because of that I thought I would try somewhere else for nice but affordable shoes.

Hello comfy shoes!

At £7.99 a pair these flats are a great price and super comfortable. I've worn them on many shopping trips and I have no complaints so far!

I picked up these from HM last year! Yes, 2013! In the process of moving I packed them up and they sat in a box until a couple of months ago.

I recently purchased a few more pairs, these will be nice for the end of summer and then also into the autumn months.

Co Washing

Monday, 25 August 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Until a few months ago I was just a shampoo first and then conditioner kind of girl, then Leah from Just Me Leah wrote about reverse washing and I became obsessed, my hair felt soft, silky and so swishy I wanted to do hair flicks all the time and promptly gave myself a mild case of whiplash!

So when I read about co-washing I just thought oh no. I couldn't resist trying it. The idea is simple, you 'wash' your hair with conditioner and that's it.

So, I wet my hair, put on my favourite conditioner, L'Oreal Eversleek, leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse off.

I was worried that my hair would feel greasy afterwards, there have been times when I haven't rinsed the conditioner properly and my hair went all lank and greasy.

It was quite the opposite, my hair was soft, really soft. The heat had made my hair so dry so this was exactly what it needed.

It's not something that I would do every time I wash my hair but maybe every 2-3 weeks.

Have you ever tried co-washing?

Much Love

Outfit August

Hi!

Friday was a very special outfit August for me, it was my first time as Bridesmaid and it was for my sisters wedding.

It took a long time to find a dress though, I must have looked at around 40-50! I finally picked this dress by LindyBop. I wanted something lightweight and comfortable just in case a heat wave arrived for the day. Although it didn't turn out to be hot it was dry with a bit of sun and also a bit more wind than I was expecting, luckily I had a tulle petticoat on underneath along with some shorts, I like to be prepared for all events!

The dress fitted really well, it does look tight over my chest but I was wearing one of my new Curvy Kate bras which gave me a lot more ummph than I expected!

Dress - LindyBop
Shoes - TK Maxx
Bag - Radley

Hi!

This was a very last minute outfit that I put together. It was one of those crazy morning where everything seemed to go wrong, sleeping through the alarm, not making lunch the night before and the a few moments after taking this picture I had a stabbing pain in my chest, panic time but all was ok it was just the wire from my bra almost drilling a hole in my chest!

Note to self....buy some foot cream!

Shop Your Stash #4

Wednesday, 20 August 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

Welcome to the Shop Your Stash Challenge. This is all about finding a gem in what you already own and creating a blog post on it. This is to let go a little of the stress that comes with being a blogger - even if it is just once a month. Rummage through your beauty products and climb through those clothes draws. You might surprise yourself!

I bought this dress when I went to Plus London last year. It has been sat in my wardrobe since then, I think that I had been keeping it for a special occasion. But those are far and few between, so I'm just going to wear it whenever!

When I tried it on again I realised why I was drawn to it in the first place. The lightweight cotton material will be perfect for the warm weather. The sleeves are just long enough so that I could feel comfortable about this wearing this without a jacket or cardigan. I seem to be having a love/hate relationship with my arms at the moment, veering closer to the hate. Hopefully this will pass and I can get plenty of wear out of it over the coming months.

Much Love

Hi!

Last week Mr C and I took a little trip out for the day. It was really random and last minute, I often find that these to be the best days, no plan just go with the flow!

Whilst we were out and about I saw a Peacocks and, naturally had to have a quick look inside!

I have been looking for some nice short sleeve tops to see me through to the end of summer. I spotted this one straight away. The pattern is not something that I would usually go for but sometimes it's good to step outside your comfort zone and I'm really pleased I did!

Excuse the hair in this photo, this was taken after a long day at work!

Skincare Update

Sunday, 17 August 2014 | No comments

Hi!

A few weeks ago I posted about new skincare routine. I thought that I would do a little update and let you know how I've been getting on!

Soap and Glory face wash and scrub.

I was slightly worried about using new products, my skin was not looking so good, I had spots around my jaw and temples that would come up, disappear and the come back again.
The peaches and clean face wash is good, leaves my skin soft but not feeling clean. I'm going to try another cleanser but still keep this one to wash my face at night. The face scrub however is a keeper, my skin feel smooth and clear after using it.

The Effaclar duo + has been my biggest surprise. I'm always quite sceptical about using products that have a lot of hype surrounding them especially ones that are quite expensive.

When I first tried the cream my skin did sting quite a bit, in fact I wanted to scratch my face off at one point! But I preserved and really happy that I did. I've about two spots since I started using this, my face is less oily, my blemishes are fading and any spots that do come up disappear within a few hours. If, as an adult, you still suffer with spots I would highly recommend this.

My weekend happy morning face, I didn't want to subject you all to morning work face!

Have you tried any other Effaclar products? What are your thoughts?

Much Love

I feel good

Friday, 15 August 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Time for the next I Feel Good challenge.

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

A throwback to this time last year.

If I have a tough day I always look at this picture to remind myself that I'm stronger than I think. I finally got better after nearly 2 years of being ill and now I'm thankful that I'm still here and carrying on with life.

Much Love

Hi!

Theme: Show me your maxi's

The theme was chosen by Sam

Sam Wrote:

I always struggle with ways to wear my maxi dresses. I'm not keen on bandeau top dresses and have only really worn my maxi with a crop top over it. And footwear. I've only ever worn flip flops. With a new maxi, I need to finally make an outfit from it and be happy. Show me your maxi styling!

These are two of my favourite maxi's. The skirt I purchased last year from New Look, it was meant to be my Plus North outfit but unfortunately I didn't go due to an unexpected hospital visit! Only a few weeks to go, I definitely will be there this time!

Taking Shape Shorts

Monday, 11 August 2014 | No comments

Hi!

The last few weeks of gorgeous weather has meant it's time for me to get my little legs out! The dreaded chub rub can make things a little difficult, imagine trying to walk fast whilst having sandpaper between your thighs, not comfortable!

Hello!

When I visited the Taking Shape store one item I knew that I would be taking home with me were these easy breezy shorts.

They are so comfortable, made from a cotton blend with stretch they easy to get on and I don't that horrible sweaty feeling.  As you can see from the photos they reach the top of my knees, perfect for me as I don't really wear anything above.

I would definitely recommend these shorts. I've also decided they work well as shorts to wear around the house, paired with a vest top I almost feeling like I'm having a 90s cycling short revival!

Taking Shape have also launched a new hosiery collection for AW14.  As summer seems to be nearly over it might be time to have look at the selection sooner rather than later!

Arms

Wednesday, 6 August 2014 | 5 comments

Hi

I love the summer but having to sit in a hot stuffy office all day is beginning to take its toll.

Until last week I had never worn a vest top to work, ever. Every summer I always made sure that my arms or at least the top of them was covered in the office but oddly enough at the weekend I felt free enough to bare arms and legs and not give two hoots!

This week has been a revelation, I'm hot and couldn't care about my bingo wings. These wings are not going anywhere soon so I might as well learn to love them!

Skirt - Asos
Vest Top - Debenhams
Shoes - Primark

How are you all coping with the heat?

Much Love
