OOTD | Independance Day

Sunday, 30 November 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

Today's outfit is a really special one. It's the 48 year anniversary of independence for Barbados and today is independence day!

I don't think that I have mentioned this on the blog before but my family come from Barbados. I might be slightly biased when I say it's the most beautiful island in the Caribbean but it really is!

This is my OOTD based on the colours of the flag.

Events | Bloggers Love Hub

Saturday, 29 November 2014 | No comments

Hi!

A few weeks ago I had an email pop up in my inbox about the Bloggers Love Hub. It sounded really interesting so I registered my details for a place.

I decided to leave early to make sure that I got there in plenty of time, it was in a part of London that I have never been to before and it was only the third time I had been to London on my own! I thought the event would be a good opportunity to meet some other bloggers and get used to travelling and doing things on my own. I still really struggle talking to new people and going to places on my own so I thought going to an event like this would really push me outside my comfort zone and help build up my confidence a bit more.

So off to my destination, all going fine until I get to Chauncery Lane tube station and started walking. Then I was lost, ughh, queue major panic and phone calls to Mr C. I almost got a taxi back to a tube station to go home. After a few minutes of trying to calm down I decided to look at the map and find the venue again. Would you believe that I had only turned right instead of left and I was only a 10 minute walk away! grr!

I finally arrived at 16.50, 50 minutes after it had started! I didn't let this faze me though. When I walked in I was surprised how dark it was and hot, like super hot!

There were a few different brands dotted all around the 1st floor. The first one was Slendertone, it's not something that really interests me so I didn't stop. There were also a few clothing brands but they didn't go up to a plus size, I still had a quick look and a chat, it never does any harm does it!

There were a few brands that really caught my eye. One was Nadia Minkoff, they had a table full of bags and jewellery, my eyes almost popped out of my head!

There was an area where you could sit and chill out, after getting lost and having tired, sore feet I was so glad to see this.

I also had my hair put up in a messy up do thanks to the team at Umberto Gianni.

I have to apologise for the lack of pictures, it was really dark in the venue and I didn't want to blind people with my flash!

On the way back I stopped at Oxford Circus again to have a look at the lights and to have a quick stop in Kiko. I picked up the most amazing lipstick which I will be blogging about soon!

It was a really good event and, although it was small, there were some really interesting and new (to me) brands. I also got a chance to talk to people and hand out my cards. I even got chatting to some fellow bloggers, there were quite a few people on their own as well so I didn't feel out of place. The events will be back in February for LFW, I can't wait for that!

Did you go to any of the events?

Much Love

OOTD | Do you want curves with that??

Thursday, 27 November 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Sorry for the recent lack of posts, especially outfits. I had the worst head cold for the past two weeks, I'm just starting to feel human again and I didn't want anyone to think that Halloween had come around again if I put up a picture of me!

I just wanted to share a quick outfit I wore at the weekend. I got this vest top from the lovely Betty Pamper (Pamper and Curves) when I was at Plus North. I had completely forgotten about it until now! Fab though isn't it!

Last weekend we went out for a few hours and this is what I wore.

I kept everything quite simple but it's definitely a top that would work with lots of other items in my wardrobe. I love it!

Have you got a Nicky Rockets T-Shirt?

Much Love

Review | Ayana Jewellery

Wednesday, 26 November 2014 | No comments

Hi!

Christmas is coming up super fast this year, even though I have done the majority of my shopping there will always be one or two gifts that I still need to get, one person in particular is my fussy sister!

I know that she does like jewellery (not as much I do!) so I had a look at the Ayana Jewellery website. They are an online jewellery store which sell unique silver jewellery and bright affordable pieces. You can also get in touch with them to create your own piece!

There is also a jewellery club coming to the website soon, if you want to find out more head over to the website and have a little read!

These silver studs would make an ideal gift for her. They are handmade from sterling silver which is done in their London workshop. Handmade jewellery is a great idea for a present, I feel it's a bit more special being handmade.

You can get yourself some of Ayana's super cute sterling silver heart studs for just £12 (that's over 30% off the original price) and to make this offer even more special, you'll get a funky gift tin with your earrings and FREE UK shipping. This offer is valid for the first 10 redemption's, so get in quick! Use the following code to receive your discount: loveayana

So, if you are looking for some gifts for Christmas take a look at the website, these are a few of my favourites.

Anastasia Brow Wiz | Review

Monday, 17 November 2014 | 1 comment

Hi!

Back in August my sister got married, lovely wedding and wonderful party, the best part however was when she told me that she going to LA for her honeymoon. Immediately I thought oh, how quickly can I get my shopping list to her!

These are some of the goodies that she brought back for me.

This week I finally tried the Anastasia Brow Wiz.

I had seen this in many a beauty video on YouTube and heard so many good things about it so I asked my sister to pick one up from Sephora for me so could see whether it is actually worth the hype!

I finally used this today as I had time to sit do my makeup without being a in rush. So, let me keep this review short, it's really good, much better than what I expected.

I have been using a brow powder from MUA which is pretty good, but I find that you do have to be quite light when applying it. The brow wiz has a really fine pencil at one end which allowed me to fill in the gaps with light subtle strokes and a brush at the other to brush them into a nice defined finish.

It is quite expensive, you can buy it from Cult Beauty for £15.50. It is worth the money? In my own honest opinion, yes. This is one item that will definitely be on my repurchase list, I've tried so many products to try and create the perfect brow and this, well it's like I've won the eyebrow lottery!

Have you tried the Brow Wiz?

I Feel Good!

Saturday, 15 November 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

Time for the next I Feel Good challenge.

"You know sometimes when you spend ages getting ready for a night out, an event or even just a blog post, and the reflection in mirror isn't what you hoped?  This challenge is for those times when you look in the mirror, no pre planning involved, and think "I look good today".
We all have our good days and our bad, but this challenge is to record those good days and to remember that confidence, at any size, is beautiful.

Dress from Elvi.

I did umm and ahh before I purchased this. I don't really wear prints but I thought why not step outside my comfort zone and try something different!

Wingz | Review

Monday, 10 November 2014 | 2 comments

Hi!

We still seem to be having the odd burst of summer, last weekend in particular was wonderful but unfortunately I know that will be over very soon!

Wingz* are a great addition to the wardrobe that allow me to take lots of summer items and make that transition to winter much easier. They are also a great option if, like myself you have days when you are not feeling comfortable about showing your arms.

These are the black full length fitted stretch Wingz. There are lots of different styles on the website. Putting it on was pretty easy, think of it like a t-shirt with a few pieces missing, the front part sits underneath your boobs with the back sitting slightly higher.

Here are 3 ways I wore my Wingz!

These will be a very useful, especially in the colder months, addition to my wardrobe.

Have you tried Wingz?

Glowwbox #4

Saturday, 1 November 2014 | No comments

Hi!

So, this is my final Gloww box that I received.  I cancelled my subscription for a while as I was getting a backlog of beauty products that I hadn't tried and I didn't want to waste anything.

This one had some really lovely items in.

This blusher is absolutely gorgeous. The colour is really deep plum and will be ideal for the coming winter months to add some warmth to my cheeks.

.

I never really use highlighter but I might just give this one a go. The picture doesn't really do it justice as it's really shimmery!
