Style | One Dress 3 Ways

Tuesday, 29 November 2016 | 1 comment

A few months ago I wrote about this pinafore dress from ASOS. It was very much an impulse buy, I had already purchased a denim pinafore which is not one of my favourite items of clothing, it fits so well on the top but is a little too tight on the bottom when I sit down, hence why it is now hanging in the back of the wardrobe.

I hadn't worn it for awhile so I spent an hour or so one evening last week working out different ways to style it. As I've worn each outfit I took pictures to share the various ways I styled the dress. This is something that I want to do more often so that I get more wear out of my clothes!

His & Hers Christmas Wish List

Sunday, 27 November 2016 | No comments

4 weeks till Christmas?! Huh! 2 minutes ago there were 4 months till Christmas, I was planning to be super organised this year, get all my presents early, have them wrapped before mince pies were on the shelves and have cards in letterboxes before 2017 arrived.

One thing I do have organised is my wish list for Mr C . These are only a few items from my actual list, whether I actually receive them is another story but, a few strategically placed notes and pictures should help. Mr C is also getting in on the action here with his wish list as well!

Mr Cs Wish List:

Okay, anybody that has ever met me knows I am obsessed by 5 things: Football, Cars, Trainers, Watches and Electronics. Now, I was going to include a new football shirt but Natalie is always saying I have too many as it is (how many is too many??). So, how about a new car on my wish list........ then Natalie reminded me I only changed my car a few months ago so that idea was scuppered. So, below are my 3 items and each, I believe, are pretty sensible - don't you think!?

Adidas Stan Smith Trainers
Trainers are my thing, I would quite happily fill a room with them if I could.  These Adidas Stan Smiths are top of my wish list for Christmas, I already have a pair in navy blue and they are so comfortable, its like walking in slippers, perfect for walking around with Natalie whilst she shops!

Panasonic Wireless Speakers
There is no better way to cheer myself than having a good old sing along much to Natalie's dismay! These wireless speakers from Panasonic would be perfect for me to listen to all my favourite Christmas songs! They have a whole range of features including Bluetooth connectivity and the ability to connect to other Panasonic wireless speakers via their music streaming app. First song, Shakin Stevens of course! Merry Christmas Everyone!! (you can thank me later for having that stuck in your head all day!)

Casio Edifice Bluetooth Watch

When I'm not buying trainers, listening to music or carrying shopping bags, I do like a nice watch. I have quite a nice a collection so far with room for some more and this Casio Edifice , a little retro brand with an up to date element, would make a great addition to it. Its one these pieces that would work with smart outfits and also with casual outfits for the weekend.

Natalie's Wish List:

Miss Dior Eau De Parfum
I love perfumes and have about 12 in my collection so far. I absolutely adore the scent, perfect for day and night, its gorgeous. I recently got a sample of this and have been using sparingly until a full size one arrives under the tree (hopefully this year) Mr C, I know you're reading this!
    Apple MacBook Pro

Ok, so this one might be a little ambitious but a new laptop is definitely on the list, a MacBook in particular. Writing all these posts , uploading photos and editing videos is taking its toll on my old Sony laptop. Depending on Mr C's budget I may see one this year, if not maybe next year, who knows!

Longchanp La Pliage Neo Large Shopper
I have a feeling that this is one item that I will see under the tree this year, I've given Mr C so many hints over the past few months that I'm beginning to feel like a parrot, but hopefully not looking like one! I feel like this is going to be the perfect casual weekend bag to add to my collection!

What is on your wish list for this year?

Style | The Perfect Black Dress

Thursday, 24 November 2016 | 2 comments

As I write this post there are only 5 weeks left until Christmas! Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I tried on Friday and failed, coming home with only one gift and quite a few items for me! Oh well, still plenty of time left!

Not only am I thinking about gifts but also what to wear to Christmas parties, drinks and the big day itself!

A black dress is the perfect item for me, not only good for the festive season but versatile for all year round.

This dress is from Lovedrobe. I've styled exactly the way I'm going when I head off to my first party! I sized up to a 26 in this dress, even though its slightly big around the waist it still fits well and more importantly its comfortable, something that is crucial for me when I start to act like I'm Beyonce on the dance floor! The material has a crepe like feel to it, easy to iron and stayed crease free when I was sat in the car for over 45 minutes.

There is a lovely loose bow detail on the back. I wore a normal bra (a curvy Kate one) with it and you could see little bit of the strap but that doesn't bother me.

I just love the way this dress looks on me, I felt comfortable and really good in it, I've already got plans to wear it for my birthday in February after the festive season parties are all over!

Beauty - November My Little Box

Tuesday, 22 November 2016 | No comments

Time for another My Little Box post! I've decided that I'm going to keep the subscription until Dec/Jan time and then perhaps give a different box a try, if you have any recommendations please let me know!

Ok, so I'm glad that I didn't cancel my subscription as I love this box! A box where I will actually use all of the items rather than having one or two items that I don't think I will use or have to give away!
I've used the Garnier facewash before and if you want a quick, easy and effective face wash and mask in one then this works really well. Its especially good if you have oily skin like I do.
The perfume smells really nice, I'm not very good at describing scents but this is definitely wearable! Last of all is the jelly make up remover, I'd never heard of such a thing so I saved it for the weekend when I knew I was going to have a face full of makeup to try it out. It starts out as a gel but as soon as you put water on it turns into a milky cream texture. It went on really nice, didn't feel drying or like it would strip all the oils from my skin. Once I had dried my face it felt so soft, like I put a tub of moisturiser on! I used one cotton pad with some micellar water on afterwards to make sure all my  make up was off and there was a slight trace on the pad, definitely a product that's going on the shelf in my bathroom now!
I'm looking forward to Decembers box!

Style | The last drops of Autumn

Thursday, 17 November 2016 | No comments

Some days I feel like winter has arrived and then there will be a random day when it really feels like it is still Autumn.

I'm still loving my ASOS Cocoon coat, its perfect for smart and casual wear. I have to say a big thank you to Mr C for picking this one for me as I probably wouldn't have chosen it myself! I've also been delving into the back of my wardrobe and found a pair of shoes from Primark that had never been worn! I don't know why as they are so comfortable, shopping my wardrobe for November is actually not too bad!

Style | Something old, Something new

Sunday, 6 November 2016 | 2 comments

Back in October Mr C and I took a short break to Crimdon Dene near Hartlepool. We always tend to go to a caravan park down south so we decided to have a change of scenery this year! Despite not having the best time in the holiday park we still had a lovely time away.
The day before we left we took a quick trip to Hartlepool Marina, it look as though a lot of the area has been renovated including this area. We were just going to look at the boats but seeing as I liked the outfit I had chosen for the day so much our little walk slowly turned into a mini photo shoot!

I was really hoping that I could still wear this skirt in the winter but after wearing it on this slightly chilly day with tights I felt like my legs were frozen! All the items that I'm wearing are old apart from the necklace.
I don't know how many times I've said that I'm on a shopping ban, too many too count but, during November I'm going to try my hardest not to purchase anything else, my wardrobes are on the cusp of bursting and so many things I've worn once or twice, so for the rest of the month there will lots of posts with old items but I will try and link to newer stuff where I can.

Oh look Mr C, a place to eat!

Beauty | The Facial

Thursday, 3 November 2016 | No comments

A few weeks ago I went for a facial at the LA Perfection Salon in Witney. If you are a regular reader you will know that I went to their open day back in June, you can read about that here if you missed it!

I booked in for a facial with Tina. It had been months since I last had one and since my skincare routine has disappeared into thin air once again I thought it would be a good idea to have a really good cleanse and refresh.

After a quick wander around Witney I left Mr C on his own to go and discover the Shake Shop (yes, a shop that specialises in weird and wonderful milk shakes plus other sweet treats) whilst I made my way to the salon. I was greeted by Tina who was doing my facial. We went into the first treatment room at the front, small but as there wasn't too much equipment in there it still felt light and airy.

I had to fill in a short questionnaire with questions regards my skin, medication, allergies etc and then I got myself ready and hopped on the bed.

Tina started by cleansing my face, twice! I had heard of double cleansing before but had never actually tried it, anyway it felt really good, something I will definitely try myself as I spend a lot of my day rubbing my face, partly due to being in a hot office and partly down to stress. Next it was toner, another item that I don't use but will look into doing so in the future. Then I had some cotton pads placed over my eyes and a steamer put in front of my face. I've had this done before, although it feels a bit weird to begin with you slowly begin to relax. I had a little feel of my face after this and it was already feeling incredibly soft.

After that was my favourite part, a massage! First of all my shoulders and then my neck and last of all face, I've never had my face massaged before but I thoroughly enjoyed it, I felt so relaxed afterwards and I had to fight to stay awake! Next up was another wipe with toner and then a face mask was applied. This was another favourite, cooling and rejuvenating. Last of all Tina massaged in some moisturiser.

I've waited awhile to write this post so I can give proper review. For 4-5 days after the facial my skin came up in a few little spots, this has happened a couple times after facials previously so I had a feeling it might happen. I just made sure that I used my effaclar face wash and cream every day to prevent the spots from getting worse. Coming into the second week after the facial my skin is looking clear and feels really soft. I've noticed as well that it feels less oily around my nose and forehead and the dryness that I had been experiencing around my mouth has eased up slightly. I was given some samples so during November I'm going to give myself an at home facial one weekend and see how I get on!

If you live in the Oxfordshire area do visit LA Perfection, all information is on their website.

Much Love

Style | ASOS Chinos

Tuesday, 1 November 2016 | 2 comments

I finally thought that I would get back into wearing jeans and jeggings after having a period of not wanting to wear anything but dresses and skirts but, unfortunately the Sainsburys jeggings that I thought were perfect have let me down. They seem to have stretched so much that I spend 90% of my time battling to keep them up by my waist rather than down by my ankles!

I decided to try a pair of chinos that I had spotted on ASOS during another browsing session, evening not lunchtime, not that it makes much difference!

I first ordered these in a size 22, recently I noticed that the sizing had gone a bit awry on ASOS so I decided to go down a size...bad idea, they got as far as mid thigh and that was it. A swift exchange and a size 24 and 26 were on their way to me.

Both sizes fit, the 26 are a tad too big but I thought that they were perfect for casual weekend look or the monthly bloated feeling, so I decided to keep them. The 24 fit true to size, not much room to stretch in these but they are still comfortable and wearable. They do sit quite low on the hips, I normally wear high waist trousers so I didn't expect to like these as much as I do. The length is perfect is on me at 5ft 3, I've also worn them rolled up which looks perfect with my pointed shoes. My only issue with them is that they attract all the dust, fluff and everything in between, I feel like I need to be carrying a permanent lint roller around to keep them looking clean!
